Mercedes-Benz AMG Sales
|
In April, 2010, Nicol Matheson was
appointed as the AMG Specialist for Mercedes-Benz Sydney.
The last decade has seen a steady increase in AMG vehicle
sales in Australia and Sydney in particular.
Acknowledging the increased market demand for AMG and the
specialised needs of many AMG owners, Mercedes-Benz Sydney have
created this new role in April 2010 to better address AMG
client requirements.
Australia ranks fourth in overall AMG sales globally,
only behind Japan, Germany and the USA. However, as a
percentage of total Mercedes-Benz sales in each country,
Australia leads the field.
Since the arrival two years ago of the powerful
performing C63 AMG - a 6.2-litre V8 sedan at about
$20,000 less than its predecessor, sales have steadily
increased.
The Mercedes-Benz C63 has sold more than 1,000 units in
the last two years - including 32 wagons
and Mercedes-Benz forecasts the 2010 total to surpass 600
by the end of this year.
"This year alone we're on target to sell in excess of 600
Mercedes-Benz C63 AMGs, which would outsell all its competition
combined, according to the figures we have," says Mercedes-Benz
Australia spokesman David McCarthy.
"One of the reasons we're able to get the level of support
for AMG that we do is because of the high percentage of AMG
cars we sell relative to the rest of the range."
In excess of 100 latest generation E63s have also been
sold this year and that number is expected to at least
double before the end of 2010.
Newly appointed AMG specialist Nicol Matheson explained that
another reason for the remarkable popularity of
AMG vehicles in Australia is the access to AMG track days
for clients (which Nicol has attended at Bathurst and Phillip
Island).
"When you acquire a new AMG you are on the
invitation list to access a selection of AMG drive
days around the country. It's an opportunity to learn more
about your AMG vehicle and to explore its performance
potential in a safe, controlled environment." To
